With joy, pride, and a deep sense of national purpose, the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, led by the Honourable Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa, presents this landmark report titled “Nigeria’s Tourism Economy Unveiled: A Sector-Wide Mapping for Economic Transformation.”

At its core, this work goes far beyond a mapping exercise. Rather, it serves as a strategic compass for one of Nigeria’s most promising frontiers of inclusive economic growth.

Over the past two years, the Ministry has been deliberately charting this course. As a result, new tourism hubs are breaking ground, financing windows are opening, intellectual property systems are being modernised, and targeted skills programmes are taking root across the country.

Taken together, these early investments signal clear intent and, more importantly, they are already changing lives.

Within the pages of this report are deep insights into five high-growth sub sectors: accommodation and hospitality; food and beverages; Business and MICE; entertainment and leisure; and transportation and travel services.

Individually, each sub sector tells a story of resilience and untapped economic value. Collectively, they reveal a robust tourism economy with the power to redefine what economic transformation can look like for Nigeria.

As the Honourable Minister Hannatu Musawa rightly states;

“The tourism economy is not a side project, it is central to our national development strategy.”

In the same vein, this vision sits firmly within the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Ultimately, tourism is not only about destinations and attractions. It stands as one of Nigeria’s strongest levers for inclusive prosperity, economic diversification, and youth empowerment.
