Recently, the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy (FMACTCE) signed a landmark partnership with global aviation giant, Emirates at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai.

This agreement sets the stage for Nigeria’s growing presence on the world tourism map.

A Strategic MoU That Opens Doors

Through this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), both parties will team up to promote Nigeria’s culture, cities, and natural wonders.

They’ll showcase the country across Emirates’ vast network of over 140 global destinations.

The mission is to attract more international visitors. And more importantly, reveal Nigeria’s full charm.

From the buzzing streets of Lagos and Abuja, to the peaceful beauty of Yankari Game Reserve, and the cultural depth of Benin and Kano.

Speaking at the signing, the Honourable Minister, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, described the partnership as a huge win for Nigeria’s tourism sector.

She noted it as’

“A powerful platform to tell Nigeria’s story to the world, a nation of extraordinary culture, natural wonders, and unrivalled hospitality.”

Bringing Destination 2030 to Life

This strategic move directly supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Destination 2030: Nigeria Everywhere soft power initiative.

This is an ambitious plan to position Nigeria as a global cultural and tourism heartbeat of Africa.

Meanwhile, to bring the MoU to life, both parties will:

Launch joint marketing campaigns
Host familiarisation trips for media and tour operators
Offer targeted incentives to trade partners

Finally, all of this will be led by the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA).

The agreement was signed by Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Emirates, Adil Al Ghaith, and Mr. Abiola Abdulkareem, Special Assistant to the Honourable Minister.

The ceremony took place in the presence of key officials from both Nigeria and the UAE.

But this wasn’t just a formality, it was a clear signal that Nigeria is ready, the world is watching and tourism is open for business.

Another highlight of the event was His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, who toured the Arabian Travel Market.

He was accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, His Excellency Helal Al Marri. And it was such a pleasant sight.

His Highness said:

“The vision and directives of Mohamed bin Zayed and Mohammed bin Rashid have laid a solid foundation for strengthening the UAE’s status as a global hub for shaping the future, driving innovation, and forging partnerships that fuel sustainable growth across vital sectors.”
